The one thing Marc Jacobs is going to bring to you is joy, period. And that was the title of his latest collection. Marc Jacobs FALL 2024 had.The show started off quite summery, which makes sense considering the temperature in New York, and the itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini was stunning.
And between the knit two-piece set and Lurch’s version of a Breton striped top, it seems like summer really is on Marc’s mind. The sheer, lacy styles, some with revealing bums, do seem to play on Marc’s idea of paper dolls, which he’s been looking at for quite a few seasons. And I’m consistently fascinated by his proportions.
The oversized silhouettes are strange and abstract, but yet feel very familiar and chic. And it was smart to show bags, considering you can’t escape them on social media, or if you have a daughter who happens to use your debit card in order to buy one. And leave it to Marc to make elf shoes very chic, very fun, and I love this bulbous military jacket because it reminds me of spring 2015, while the costume crystal versions definitely have this joyous element that Marc really wanted to exude throughout most of the collection.
Marc wanted to make sure that this collection felt free of societal norms that drag us down, and I think he most definitely accomplished that goal.
