4 Best Berlin Fashion Week 2024 Designer’s

Some fashion critics are claiming that Berlin is the new London Fashion Week. It is a pretty ambitious statement, let’s be honest, but I’m going to show you some designers that I think made Berlin Fashion Week this year.

1.Maximilian Guedra

First, we’ve got Maximilian Guedra.I feel like if Alexander McQueen and Gareth Hughes had a baby, this would be it. Inspired by the fashion-forward spirit of Berlin, Maximilian Gedra’s progressive designs merge opulent textures with timeless forms to reflect the city’s unique aesthetic. The emerging designer pursues a higher mission with his fashion: creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable and welcome. The Maximilian Gedra runway show took place at The Ballery.

2.Namilia

Namilia was the brand that probably made the most buzz at Berlin Fashion Week this year, and they collabed with Ed Hardy. The messaging of the show was pretty straightforward. The turnout for the Namilia show on Wednesday evening was enormous. Nearly 600 guests, including fans, ravers, queer style icons, and content creators—many impressively dressed in outfits from the brand—gathered in front of the location “The Tunnel” at Potsdamer Platz subway station. Emilia Pfohl and Nan Li presented the 60 looks of their ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ collection on the longest and clubbiest runway of this Fashion Week, staging a wild, colorful, and confident party of pop culture and provocation in collaboration with the 2000s cult brand Ed Hardy.

3.Kitschy Couture

I discovered this brand called Kitschy Couture. It was the gift that kept on giving. I’ve always been a big fan of wearable lingerie.Designer Abarna Kugathasan uses the fashion of her label Kitschy Couture to tell transcultural, very personal, and often socially critical stories—not without a stylistic wink here and there. Her debut show in February was surprisingly the most festive of Fashion Week. This season, the repeat Berlin Contemporary winner invited her guests to the Stadtbad Neukölln, where she celebrated a bride with her collection ‘Artificial Paradise’—a bride who, freshly married to herself, goes on a honeymoon and, amidst lotus blossoms and plastic palms, lingers on a giant swan in a Berlin pool, indulging in immigrant nostalgia.

4.Haderlum

And then there was designers like Haderlum that gave us incredible show locations, like in this old airport. Berlin Contemporary winner Julius Weissenborn and Johann Ehrhardt showcased their Haderlump collection before a large audience against the backdrop of historic aircraft in the impressive Hangar 6 of Tempelhof Airport. Featuring bomber jackets made from recycled parachute fabrics, leather caps, coats with fluttering satin inserts, and uniform-like denim looks, “AERO” reflected the pioneering spirit of early 20th-century aviators.
