Hey guys, I’m so excited, because if you didn’t already know I’m a huge perfume and fragrance junkie and I was checking my email a little over a week ago and I had an email from Sephora that at the very bottom it was kind of hidden that we have VIP and VIP Rouge access to the new black opium by yves saint laurent perfume.so I got the new Saint laurent opium black, I got the largest size, the three ounces, and I’m in love! I don’t think I’ve ever bought a perfume like completely blind, never smelling it at all, just basing it off of online what the notes are.
The closest I came was Bon Bon, which I smelled once in the store and then I bought later. This was a completely blind buy. I went online to Fragrantica and I saw what the notes were and I was like, that sounds like something I would like! This is what the bottle looks like, it looks like a flask and it’s not as nice as I thought it was going to be from the pictures online, but it’s still really beautiful and I love the shine and it’s got like rose gold cutout.

I love this packaging, it’s beautiful. The only strange thing about this packaging is when I got it, I couldn’t figure out if you just like pushed this or if it twisted off or anything, so I handed it to my boyfriend like, can you figure this out for me? And he just yanked it open. This thing is like really sturdy, I think it’s becoming easier to pop off the more times I open it, I have to kind of like yank at it, but anyway, very sturdy.
Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent Notes
It won’t come open in your bag and spill over everything I guess, but it’s just a regular little perfume spray. The reason I bought this yves saint laurent black opium perfume was because it was described as a vanilla coffee scent and I was like, sign me up! I would love to spray vanilla and coffee on me and just smell like those two things all the time because I love those things, I want to smell like that. I’m just going to tell you guys what the top, middle, and base notes are of this perfume.
The top notes are pink pepper, orange blossom, and pear. The middle notes are coffee and jasmine, and the base notes are vanilla, patchouli, and cedar. Really not as coffee scented as I would hope it was.
Final Thoughts
I was really just expecting like to spray on a cup of cappuccino on me and just go on my day smelling like a fresh brewed roast, but no. On me, the first spray of this, like those first five minutes, really smell like a white floral. And I was a little bit nervous because I thought I was going to have to send this bad boy back.
I really don’t like florals at all, I’m more of like an oriental gourmand, spicy, earthy, warm, musky, all those mature sounding words. I like those, I really am not a fan of fruity, floral, girly, none of that. But after about half an hour or so, this starts to dry down to way more of what I’m into, and it’s got that really oriental scent, and I love this.
