The Skims Team USA collection is genius for brand awareness but terrible for revenue. Let’s talk about it. So for the Paris Olympics, Skims came out with a USA cotton collection and partnered with a bunch of famous USA Olympians.

And the awesome thing is it was Olympians in all different sports and the Paralympics. But the real thing is this collection is not about making revenue. Because not many men are wearing these USA sweatpants and not many women are wearing this USA Olympic cotton set or PJ set.

And don’t worry, I have the data to back it up. This collection’s been live for over a week and no products are sold out. And if we look at their best-selling products from Partosol, it’s all dresses, it’s their shapewear, it’s black, it’s new, none of like the USA collection.

So this collection is totally about brand awareness, which is actually genius when you’re a brand like Skims. Because Skims is betting on all these Olympians doing super well in the Olympics and everyone going to their social media pages and then seeing Skims on their Instagram. And then be like, yes, oh my god, I need to go shop Skims.

And it reminds everyone that Skims is for everyone, all genders, all different body types, and they have a lot of different products from bathing suits, underwear, pajamas, etc. So this Skims team USA collection might not be their big revenue winner, but it reminds everyone that Skims is a huge USA cotton brand that has so many different products for so many different people and you should come and shop them for whatever you need.
